The Town Padang mosque is part of the Ipoh Heritage Trail and was constructed in 1908 next to the central padang or greenfield.

The Town Padang mosque, Ipoh, built in 1908 to serve the Tamil Muslim community from South India.

During the 1900s there was a large influx of Indian Tamils from southern India who came to work in the rubber and tin industries around Ipoh and in Perak.

In order to serve the immigrants it was decided to construct a mosque which was sponsored by Tamil Muslim Sheikh Adam, at a total cost of $500,000.

The square shaped design of the mosque, consisting of verrandhas, archways, two minarets and a central pyramid roof, follows the mughal style of architecture common in southern India.
